Cycle Ride

Having completed a couple of London to Brighton cycle rides in previous times while I was in the RAF, the last 2 years since I left have been rather 'quiet' on the exercise front... Not that I've been sitting on my back-side of course, the dogs will always want to go outside and play ball in our field with yours truely of course. But, the time has come to replace the batteries in my heart rate monitor and cycle computer and get on my bike again.

Nothing too grand this time, I have signed up to complete a sponsored ride with the Local Chamber of Trade (for which I am a member).  The proceeds of any sponsorship money will go towards paying for the Christmas lights and hanging baskets in Lampeter town.  From what I have learnt so far, the ride isn't too long - about 30 miles I think, and the riders completing it don't take it too seriously. It is rather hilly though (there are always hills around this part of Wales!!!!)  So, as I said, batteries have been replaced, my bike has been cleaned and serviced, training routes planned and it's all systems go.  All I need now is to ask you for your support to pledge a few pounds for this worthy cause.  You can do this online, I'll contact you after the event for payment.  Many many thanks in advance.

Update Sep 2011.  Due to a lack of support by other members of the Chamber of Trade, the ride has been postponed until Mar / Apr 2012.  As it happened, the actual day of the supposed ride turned out to be one of the wettest days around here for years.  So, as I had already collected cash from the good people of the village, I cycled the ride myself a couple of days later and duly paid the money in - along with a SatNav copy of the route I had ridden. I'll do the 'authorised' ride again in the new year with the rest of the group!
