In 2005, I attempted - and completed, a 'Rowing Marathon'. A rowing marathon is simply rowing the distance of a standard marathon, some 26 miles. To be exact, it's 42,195 metres! I trained quite hard for this and eventually settled on a target time (the night before) of 2 hrs and 8 mins. The actual event was the same day day as the London Flora Marathon and I did my bit, on line with other rowers, whilst watching the 'real' marathon on the tele. (See separate article for the details). My actual finish time was 2:07 and some seconds. Fantastic.
