Indoor Rowing:  During 2002, I moved out of my comfort zone of windsurfing in a 7.5 metre max sail sized fleet to that of Unlimited size.  The difference was enormous, I had to put a great deal more effort into my sailing.  Particularly with the pumping of the sail for light wind day's.  My arms just weren't strong enough.  So, to improve their strength, my general fitness and Sandra's too, we have bought ourselves an indoor rower.  I love it.  We spent an extra few bob and got the one with the PM2+ monitor, this enables you to connect it to your computer for more varied workouts, and, and this is the best bit for me, with an extra bit of software, you can compete or train with rowers on line from all over the world!  Brilliant!  So, I am now a confirmed online rower and have joined a virtual rowing club!

Windsurfing:  I've been windsurfing - and more specifically racing, since 1980.  I love it.  I sailed for the RAF and competed on the National circuit throughout the racing season.  Had a busy time during 2003, my first year in the National Formula fleet,  (short fat boards as opposed to long thin ones).  It was harder than I imagined and for most of the season I was amongst the tail end Charlies - oh dear.  Still never mind, I did go to nearly all the events, and collected points every time.  Hence overall I finished 31 out of 134 in the National Rankings - and with that I was quite pleased. I have been a member of the RAF Sailing Association (RAFSA) committee for many years and looked after their Sailors' database and the RAFSA Website before giving it up in 2007. I've now taken up.....

Offshore Sailing.  Took my first trip in a boat with some lads from work in the summer of 2005.  I always knew that I would enjoy it and indeed I did, I loved it.  I have sailed mostly on the south coast from Portsmosuth to Dartmouth.  I have progressed to Day Skipper and enjoyed a lovely holiday last year in Croatia on a SunSail flotilla holiday with my wife and a couple of friends.  Thoroughly recommended!!
