Well I did it last year (2008) and thoroughly enjoyed it, and having decided to do it again for 2009 I've been training hard and last Sunday it all came to fruition with the British Heart Foundation's London to Brighton Bike Ride. We had arranged a team of 11 riders from work and left at 5:15. Our transport got us there in plenty of time ready for a 7:30 start. As we were lined up prior to the starting gates and with less than 10 mins to go, I suddenly heard a loud pop as my front tyre decided to burst! PANIC, had to scrabble around for a replacement tube with minutes to go. My colleagues waited for me to change it and then we were off. There were loads and loads of cyclists, plus other traffice and red stop lights, so it all took a bit of time to get out out of London. We eventually did though and then had a good ride. A big plus for me was that I rode up Ditchling Beacon (which I walked last year) and then arrived at Brighton at midday. Two of our team were already there, there were 4 in my group and the rest of the team soon followed. All in all a great event. If all my sponsors pay, I will have raised over £350 for the BHF. Many many thanks to you all. PS. It's not to late to sponsor me, so please visit my sponsorship page to help raise money for this very worthwhile cause.
